John Buchan Way
The John Buchan Way is a 22km linear route between Peebles and the home of the famous author at the John Buchan Centre in Broughton, in the Scottish Borders. Originally developed for walkers, the route is equally suitable for horse-riders. The route was developed and is maintained by Scottish Borders Council. A leaflet for the route is available from their website.
You can access an online map of the John Buchan Way through the BHS EMAGIN website by clicking here. From the Scotland section of "Where to Ride", scroll down the list to John Bchan Way, which will take you to a street map scale overview of the route. You can change to 1:2,500 scale OS map via the map type box in the horizontal menu above the map. Please note that at present the BHS EMAGIN maps for this route do NOT show other linking routes - we are working to correct this. Meanwhile if you scroll down the main list to South of Scotland Countryside Trails and change to 1:2,500 scale, you will be able to track in any direction to show how the different parts of the SoSCT network interlink.
Linking routes
The John Buchan Way links with the Biggar-Broughton SOSCT route at the western end, and with various SOSCT routes around Peebles at the eastern end.
